I'm not in the habit of write any kind of text post in this blog (except the used to say who did the cartoon and where was Published) but i want to make an exception.

Mr. Khalil Bendib, an exceptional cartoonist that I met time ago through the net wrote me a message on that post telling the following:
"
This is Khalil Bendib, author of the cartoon you posted without permission.
Please contact me as soon as possible regarding this matter."

He was right. Not very long time ago I noticed he asked for permission if someone wanted to publish his cartoons, even I wanted to do it, I forgot it (memory is not my strong point... at all), then, as I thought it was fair and the correct thing, I wrote him explaining why I published his cartoons and I would like to share some of this thoughts with you.
In short, that's what I said to him:

First of all, and not in a way to have him indulgence, I told him how much I appreciated his work, that acid vision of American (and worldwide) reality, was what made me follow his page regularly and upload cartoons to the Viñetodromo.

The second important thing was telling him I knew I was breaking copyright laws, exactly as I'm doing with many others who write in newspapers or other blogs or webpages. I did it as I believe in the right to quote and also cause my blog is a non-profit blog. I don't even have publicity as it's not my intention to win money with it but shave my cartoon selection with whoever wanted to come and visit it.

Finally, I told him that if he wanted me to, I would delete all of his cartoons and i wouldn't publish them anymore. Even if I think it would be a real pitty, as I think this way many new people shouldn't now his work.
I believe that making his work known never can be bad to an arstist.

I didn't received any kind of reply, not authorizing nor refusing, then, after thinking about, I'll keep publishing them till I have a reply.

I also want to add that I make an exception with him, I rarely ask permission to publish cartoons that can be freely seen and as I did in the past, depending on who and how, I will do ask permission or not.

PS: I'm sorry for my englsih, i'm sure i made many mystakes on that post, but i wanted to in that case.
